We're hoping a little positive thinking will make all of our dreams a reality...okay, we'll settle for warmer temperatures.
In case some of you didn't know, we are in the process of moving. We have yet to determine where we will be going, but Dylan has submitted his request...CALIFORNIA. He has informed me that he is SOOOO sick of the cold. I will say that I did have the opportunity to venture down to St. George & I was extremely tempted to pick up a couple of job applications...ahhh, you all know I would never it do it, but dang if I wasn't lured in by the wonderful weather.
Anyway, at the first inkling of warmth, the boys are outside in a heartbeat. Here is a little snippet of the boys trying to make the most of the first hint of warmth...um, yes, those are Dyl's Build-A-Bear animals being used as the bases...and yes, Dyl did completely bypass 1st base:) Also, please disregard my terrible lawn. If it wasn't snowing every other day, I'd be able to maintain it a bit better...alright, enjoy!

Is your happy meal for a boy or a girl?

A little bit ago, Dyl kept asking if we could PLEASE go to McDonald's because he "just hasn't had it in forever, Mom!"...yeah, right...the thing is he begs for a meal with a toy in it; however, he ALWAYS asks for water & only eats a part of the fries. He insists that he hates the nuggets (because he is pretty sure they hurt his belly) & he pretty much refuses to get a hamburger. I should be grateful that my child does not like to eat that kind of food, right? I am, but the kid still begs for the Golden Arches for the simple reason that he REALLY wants (NEEDS!!!) the cheap-o, plastic toy which undoubtedly will get wedged between or under the backseat of my car...oh well, I digress...
So, while my parents were here, the kids were really great helpers & went cleaning crazy (well, as much "crazy" as an 8 & 5 yr old can get...translation: I did not spoil my joy by checking in the closets or under the beds). Anywho, I decided to surprise them with the very much desired Pirates of the Caribbean toys they had been begging for (only available for a limited time with the purchase of deep-fried chicken parts or "meat" formed into the shape of a patty) . For timesake, I opted for the drive-thru (my first mistake...well, technically, I guess GOING to McD's was my FIRST mistake...uh-oh, I better stop myself ...)..."I'll take 2 happy meals, please"...are those for a boy or a girl?..."They are both for boys"...okay, pull up to the next window...I hand them the money, they hand me the boxes...you know the drill. I get all the way home, bust through the door, & smiles fill the room for Mother has come home bearing gifts! Alas, the needle scratches across the record, bringing the sound of joy to a screeching halt as Dylan pulls out Princess gloves from his Happy Meal. YIKES! Sadly to say, Aidan's meal contains the exact same powder blue, satiny Cinderella gloves with dazzling jewel ring. Oh well...sorry, boys. Mom really tried.
BUT our story doesn't end here....One thing about Dylan is that he has a side to him that not a lot of people get to witness. He is very particular about his clothes & what matches. He LOVES to dress-up. AND the boy likes to play with toys that most of society would classify as "girl" toys. The kid loves Build-a-Bear, Polly Pockets & My Littlest Pet Shop. Honestly, I have stood in WalMart for 20 mins before while he tried to decide whether to get a cool new Star Wars Storm Trooper Action Figure or a fuzzy little, big-eyed Penguin with glasses & a little carrying case...yeah...I'm not to worried about him getting picked on, the kid is tough as rocks & will punch you for just breathing wrong in his direction...hmmmm, maybe I should be worried.
Anyway, later that evening, I find Dylan downstairs laughing. He is by himself trying on the gloves & ring. He looks up at me & starts laughing harder. "Look at me, Mom!" I started laughing & I asked him so politely (you got to be very careful with making requests from Dyl) if I could PLEASE take a picture. Much to my amazement, he AGREED! Trust me, this is huge, people! He laughed the whole time, but then followed up with (while he was still kind of chuckling)..."ha ha, yeah, Mom, but you better not show anyone from your work...'cause you ALWAYS show everyone at your work...but THIS time, if you do, I'll have to kill them... 'cause I'd be so embarrassed!" Yeah...call me a crappy mom, but he looked so cute I had to share:)

Kids say the darnedest things...especially mine...
Today was such a beautiful day that the kids & I wanted to get out & enjoy the weather. We decided to go play tennis. First we hit the park, but all the courts were full. I decided to try PGHS 'cause I figured they might have some courts. Dylan kept saying, "Now WHY are we going to the high school, Mom?"...we're going there to play tennis, Dyl..."Yeah, I know. BUT why are we going to the high school?"...well, I was on the tennis team in high school, so I guess I just figured the high school here would have some courts..."You were on the team? Oh yeah! That's why you're an afroneshional! No...a poetessional...pissenional..."...Do you mean a "professional"?..."Oh yeah! A professional! That's what you are, Mom!"
Literally, those were the words he used, I thought it was so funny I wrote them down before we got out of the car. By the way, I have no idea why he would say that. I think that we have been to play tennis all of 3 times in his life. For the record, my tennis skills are about as proficient as my blogging abilities...I can do it, but its definitely not something I'd brag about:)
Another funny thing said that still brings a smile to my face...

A friend of mine gave me a hilarious book called "God's Gifts: Over 100 Studs, Stallions, and Dreamboats from the 70s and 80s". On the back is a picture of David Hasselhoff from his "Knight Rider" days. I so wish I could find the exact pick online. Anyway, Aidan took one look at it & said, "Hey! That looks just like Uncle Luke...'cept with a lot of hair." :)
Hey Luke, don't feel bad. Apparently, DH is extremely popular in Japan:)
Also, it could be worse. Your childhood could have been filled with people constantly mistaking you for this awesome celebrity...
