So I know some of you saw this on my Facebook page, but I also know that not everyone is on Facebook. That being said, I thought I would post this here so that you could learn more about me then you would ever possibly want to:) No, seriously though, it was a lot of fun & I would love to see/hear/learn more about any of you who are willing to sit down & take the time to respond.
Take care & enjoy!
Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.
1. I would love, love, love to change my name back to my maiden name—Kieta (pronounced Key-Ta), however, I have a heavy heart thinking that I won’t have the same last name as my boys. I was recently informed by them that the ONLY way they would be fine with me changing my name was if I married a guy named Joe Bob Diarrhea. Disgusting, I know, but I applaud their logic in that I most likely will never be able to change my name:)
2. I am phobic of vomit. I know a majority of people don’t find it redeeming, but I mean I REALLY hate vomit. My wonderful older sister & darling younger brother use to take great pleasure in sneaking into my room late at night to make throw-up sounds just to get me upset...um, why do I still talk to them again? JK! I love ‘em!
3. I LOVE to read children’s books & think volunteering at the library would be awesome. I know this deep-rooted love is based on the fact that my mom & my aunt were AMAZING story tellers. You know what I’m talkin’ about with the inflection, tone, animation, & different voices. I love the whole production of it. I especially love that my children still love to stop whatever their doing if I ask if they want me to read them a story. Sadly, the days when their gonna want to hang-out w/ their momma will pass by all too soon. I better enjoy it now!
4. I’ve pretty much always loved sports, but hated running. I don’t remember ever running more than a mile (at least not on purpose) before I was 30. A good friend suggested I sign-up for a marathon & I thought, “what the heck? Sure!”...so I did it. LOL! I suck at training, so the longest I ran before the race was for an hr & the farthest I had run was 6 miles. I did actually finish the race just fine (much to the amazement of all my family & friends) & have participated in & encouraged many others to race BECAUSE I now know that ANYONE CAN DO IT!!!!
5. I love music...ALL TYPES of music. I don’t necessarily look for any deep meaning in the lyrics, but more or less how the melody makes me feel. I don’t want to imply that I never value lyrics, because I do think there are definitely a lot of songs out there that succinctly convey sentiments. I also, have a terrible habit of playing the same song over & over again. Ha ha, oddly enough, until I was about 10 I only liked to listen to classical AND, of course, Neil Diamond. My Aunt Mary LOVED him & had this dual-record cover that had a lay-out of Neil lying down with one of his sweet silk shirts on (blue & buttoned down to show off his yucky chest hair) & giving one of his ‘Hello, Again, Hello” smiles...I was such a freak of kid! Ha!
6. I love words. I use the dictionary & thesaurus on a regular basis. I am always amazed how there are SO MANY ways to express your thoughts & sentiments in such a manner that it becomes dimensional. For this reason, I hate when I feel like I am not being articulate.
7. Ha ha, going off of the last point, in an attempt to be fully understood, I tend to be OVERLY detailed in telling or retelling things. A boy called me “verbose” in college & I often find myself repeating it in my mind when I know that I have been going on & on. Sorry to all of those who have had to suffer through my incessant ramblings.
8. I can’t stand crowds. Too many people make me irritable. For this very reason, I LOVE UTAH on Sundays; literally, the best day to go do stuff...thank goodness for people that ACTUALLY adhere to their religious beliefs:)
9. I LOVE movies. I love pretty much all types...well, with the exception of scary movies & that is mainly because my over-active imagination always gets the best of me...when I’m home...alone...in the dark...and there’s a noise...ha ha, I’m lame. Anyway, movies=good. I also love that I have passed this passion on to my children. As they always say, “we’re a MOVIE FAMILY!” I LOVE going TO the movies...especially alone. I love when there is no one else in the theater. Is that weird? Oh well...I will say though that I also very much enjoy going to children’s movies when the theater is packed with kids. I love their sweet laughter at all the innocent & silly parts.
10. I LOVE the outdoors. There is literally not a day that I don’t walk outside & stand in awe of the beauty of the mountains & everything around me. I have been known to text people just to say, “Oh my goodness! You need to go outside & look at the mountains!”...or the lake, or the moon, or sunset...whatever it is! I can’t help but realize & be humbled by just how small each of are on this planet that we seem to forget to notice in our busy lives. Sometimes I wish that my eye was a camera that I could snap a shot of something that I find particularly beautiful so that I could share it with everyone.
11. I’m loyal to a fault & often I get walked on or hurt, but keep coming back for more. I’m a glutton in that regard.
12. I am extremely skeptical, yet I want to believe that everyone is innately good with the purest of motives & intentions. I hate the saying, “Once a _____, ALWAYS a_____.” Insert whatever you want in the blanks. I want to truly believe that people can change. Again, far too often I get burned in believing in this.
13. In this latter part of my life, I have tried to shatter the idea that “I can’t”. Now I always think “sure, I can. The only one stopping me is me”. I just have to believe in myself & let go of my fears...ha ha, um, not sure that always works out for the best, but at least I don’t feel like Sam I Am from the beloved Seuss classic.
14. I extremely dislike saying good-bye. As many of you know, I have been known to sneak out without saying a word. I’m just all of the sudden GONE!!! I don’t know why I do this, but I always have & most likely always will.
15. I am extremely sarcastic & most likely hide behind this because I am also extremely sensitive. I never intentional mean to hurt people with my words, but sadly I know I do...okay, maybe sometimes I do;) Ugh! That’s so rude of me! Well, to know me is to love me. If it’s of any consequence, I typically agonize with regret for hours and hours after I say anything mean or hurtful.
16. I wanted to be a teacher for the Deaf when I grew up...I guess there is still time. I have always been fascinated by the Deaf culture & the beauty of the language. I loved going to Mt SAC & learning so much about this whole other world...I didn’t hurt that one particular Deaf Professor was a Hottie. We actually went to a play put on by a Deaf Theater Co. In LA once...shhh, don’t tell anyone;)
17. Even though my friends think that I am the life of the party or always good for laughs, I am extremely shy. Ha ha, if you ever go to the gym & I am there, but don’t say anything, don’t get your feelings hurt. I don’t like to make eye contact. Also, if I go out with friends dancing or wherever, I pretty much never dance alone w/ anyone in particular. I prefer to keep with the crowd or by myself in a cage...he he he...sorry, you had to be there for that one.
18. I’ve never been good at dating. Lol! My friends have tried to set me up on many occasions only to finally learn that chances are I won’t answer the phone if the guy calls. I reiterate, I am lame in every sense of the word.
19. Because I am so sensitive, I had to stop watching the news several years ago. The terrible things going on in the world would get stuck in my head & I would carry around the sorrow for days & days. What!?! It’s NOT healthy to put on rose-colored glasses? I know, but it just makes life so much more bearable for me.
20. I was on the Wheel of Fortune because I absolutely loved that show, but I pretty much have not watched an episode since. FYI, Pat & Vanna are REALLY short!
21. I am NOT a girlie-girl. I know that even though I THINK it would be fun to have a daughter, I know the Good Lord knew what he was doing when he gave me my 2 boys. Girls are too much drama. I love, love, love playing sports, being rough & tumble, playing with LEGOS, Hot Wheels, pretty much any stereotypical “boy” toy, PLUS, I have an excuse to see all the sci-fi & action movies I want. I do have to laugh though, Dylan (my 6 yr old) has always had an affinity for “girl” type toys...of course, he’d most likely punch you in the stomach or kick you in the balls if you laughed at him. He’s got issues:)
22. Regardless of what people think, I am not healthy by any means. I LOVE fried foods & candy...mmm...so good! Um... the food is good (to me), the habit is terrible.
23. I have serious anxiety issues of being confined. For this reason, I did not choose to travel for a lot of years. Again, this is another thing that I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone just to prove to myself that I could do it. Lucky for me, I have got to experience a lot of amazing adventures because of this newly found quest in changing life habits.
24. I love to go to new places & just sit for hours & people-watch while I listen to my music. I’m sure I come across as a weird lady who is rudely starring at everyone, but oh well, whatch gonna do?
25. Although I think getting married again someday would be nice, I really kind of dread having to answer to or worry about obliging someone else. Extremely selfish, I know, but I am trying to be honest here, people.
26. I have a problem with being TOO honest sometimes...or perhaps it’s more a matter of tact. No, it’s too honest. If someone asks me something, I typically feel compelled to answer everything under the sun on that particular topic. I, however, have been trying very hard more as of late to be more reserved in what I say & what I share. We’ll see how that goes...
27. As a kid, I was convinced that my dad was Kenny Rogers. His name is Kenneth Roy & I was pretty sure that “Kenny Rogers” was his stage name. I’m telling you, he was pretty convincing especially since he knew every word to every song on “The Gambler” album:) You got to know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em. Know when to walk away, know when to run...
28. I have always thought that being a merchandiser in a store would be AWESOME for the sure fact that I could satiate my OCD & line-up all the cans:)
29. I NEED ice in pretty much all my drinks, but I have a strong sense of taste & sometimes detect less than favorable flavors in this wonderful frozen goodness. BECAUSE of this, I have been known to show up at places or events with my own cup & drink...so in case some of you were wondering if I was sneakin’ some of the hooch it was more my eccentricity shining through.
30. I hate, hate, hate contention. If I think someone is mad, hurt, upset, or has misunderstood in any manner it eats me alive. And it hurts me even more so when I feel like there is no resolution to the conflict despite my best efforts or intentions.
I know this was MORE than 25 things, but it’s pretty fun once you get started…that & I mentioned I’m verbose, right? :)

January 2009
Yes, I know, I know! I have not been good at updating this darn thing!
I can't believe we have already come to the end of January.
Is it me or this year FLYING BY!?!
Man, I MUST be getting old 'cause that is something
the oldies always say;)
Well, I wish I had more to show for the month to all you folks,
but honestly I don't.
This year the boys were with their daddy-o on New Year's Eve
& I decided to head up to the SLC
to enjoy all the craziness that is
First Night.
I went up with my good pal, Kirsten. Her friend, Grace, decide to come hang out with us as well. Ha ha, more like, Kirsten woke Grace up & made her come freeze her bootie off
(she's from St. George where it's a tad bit warmer...um, like 3x warmer).
Anyway, we met up with some friends at
Keys on Main
and the typical fun ensued....
mainly, me being sober & messing with all the drunkies-- Good Times! ;)
The boys were also LUCKY enough to get to go to
HAWAII!!!
So I decided to go play in So. Cal...SO FUN!
I got to take in Disneyland with Amy, San Diego, Margie's Baby Shower, movies, & dinner with some old friends. It was a great trip & I loved every minute of it!
